Sheila Rock

Sheila Rock was born in the USA but lived and worked in London since 1970. She started photography in 1979 and achieved her breakthrough in The Face magazine.

She has been photographing musical artists ever since and her images have appeared in publications such as Elle, Vogue, The Sunday Times and the Telegraph Magazine. Her work features in permanent collections including the National Portrait Gallery, London.

In 1984 Sheila worked with King on two occasions. Their debut encounter was for the groups first official photo shoot commissioned by CBS records and included drummer John 'Stonki' Hewitt.

A second session with a revised 4 - piece band took place in the spring.

In May 1984 the groups first national front cover for Sounds music paper was a Sheila Rock photograph. The image went onto appear in many press articles as the band went around the world and showed Paul along with Mike Robert's sporting his King leather jacket.

A high proportion of Shelia's work with the band featured as artwork across Kings 1984 single releases and also their debut album included Sheila's cover shot for 'Steps In Time'.
