James Palmer was one of i-D magazines earliest photographic contributors travelling the length and breadth of the UK snapping fashion in real life situations at a time when the street was proving more innovative and influential than the catwalk.
A close friend of the groups manager, James was automatic choice as band photographic documenter and snapped King through all phases of their career. It was Palmer who captured the earliest King performances at the Belgrade Studio theatre in Coventry and also Flicks in Dartford.
James also recorded the band getting their haircuts in preparation of their television debut and the occasion they met the Dr Martins management team in Northamptonshire.
His total access to the group allows us to now enjoy the less public moments from King's story.
